YCS SUNSCREEN POLICY
1. YCS does not provide sunscreen for participants as it is a medication and some participants may have allergies to some ingredients in certain sunscreens. Each participant needs to bring his or her own. If a camper does not have their own sunscreen they will not be allowed to participate in outside activities.
2. Participants should arrive at programs with a thick base coat of sunscreen already applied, especially in hard to reach areas, such as their backs.
3. Staff will remind participants regularly to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours: 10 am, 12 pm and 2 pm.
4. We encourage campers to wear hats to protect their heads and shirts to protect their backs. This is especially important if your child has sun sensitivities.
REMINDER FOR PARENTS:
Please apply the first application of sunscreen at home. Sunscreen should be supplied by you, the parent.
I understand that selecting “yes” allows YCS staff to apply sunscreen to my child and if my child does not have sunscreen on they will not be able to participate in outdoor camp activities.
-
Do you give permission for your child/children to have sunscreen on for outdoor activities *

Permission to Administer Medication
While medication should ideally be administered at home, we understand that some participants may require medication during the program. In such cases, the following procedures must be followed:
Medication Submission: All medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, must be submitted to the Program Staff along with a signed authorization form.
Self-Administration: Participants must be instructed at home or by their healthcare provider on how to self-administer the medication under the supervision of Program Staff.
Medication Packaging: Medications must be in an unbreakable, properly labeled container that includes the participant’s name, medication name, dosage, and administration time. The amount provided should not exceed a single program day's dosage.
Storage and Supervision: Medications will be securely stored and made available to participants at the designated time. Program staff may assist with opening childproof caps if necessary but will not administer medication.
Field Trip Protocol: During field trips, medications will be kept in the possession of the Program Instructor to ensure proper handling and availability.
